The Vale Handbill
Students of The Vale College engage in a wide range of indoor and outdoor sporting activties. Students are divided into activity groups to maintain maximum participation in sporting activities and competitions.The college interhouse sports competition takes place biennially. The houses are Ruby, Amethyst, Emerald and Sapphire – names of precious stones.
Other co-curricular activities include Drama, Music, Fine Art, Clubs and Societies. These we believe would help us produce young men and women of both character and learning.
The Vale College offers full boarding facilities with separate hostels for boys and girls under supervision of resident house master and matron. The college has its own electrical transformer, borehole and water treatment facility, and generating plant to ensure uninterrupted water and power supply.
Boarding students must obtain written exeats before leaving the college premises except when they are led out by staff on official duty.
The college retains the services of a private hospital to deal with serious health matters. Other minor matters are handled by the matron who is a qualified registered nurse.
Parents of boarding students may visit them according to the College Calender (Usually the third sunday after resumption from holiday or from mid-term break).
For the day students, the school opens at 7.30am and closes at 5.00pm. Formal lesons take place between 8.00am and 2.00pm. Lunch is served to all students at 2.00pm to be followed by compulsory prep. The day ends with sports and co-curricular activities. Practical science classes are arranged for the senior classes in the afternoons and on Saturdays to afford adequate time.
